For Curators & Art Spaces

An overview of my work, the story, and the information you may need.

I make work rooted in family, memory, loss, instinct, and fatherhood.

This page brings together my work, the short film, artist statement, and a simple record of where the work has traveled so far.

Work connected to the film

These pieces come from the same place as the film — family, memory, loss, instinct, and the symbols that are in my work.

Through The Eyes of Me

I had a chance to share the story behind my work in person, but that same night my son had a band concert.

So I made this film instead.

It became a way to be present for my family and still share where my work comes from.

Family, instinct, and memory guide my work.

When I create, it takes me back to being that little kid sitting in my grandad’s lap, painting with him for hours.

I get lost in that memory when I’m creating. I don’t always know what I’m doing. The movement is instinctive.

I always know I’ll be adding faces, birds, and shapes, but family, instinct, and memory are what guide me.

The feeling and meaning usually come after the piece is created. The final piece shows me the emotion I was feeling at the time.

And the poetry tends to follow after the piece is finished.

Where my work has been

I’m sharing this so curators, galleries, and art spaces can understand where my work has traveled so far, and where it is beginning to go now.
